The very novel combination of a high speed catamaran and a Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull (SWATH) was invented as the requirements from offshore windfarm operators became difficult to satisfy with conventional hull designs. Ola Lilloe-Olsen developed the very special blend of main hulls and struts below the main deck using extensive modeltesting at Stadt Towing Tank in Måløy. Every inch of this hull geometry is shaped for a purpose. The performance in waves when docking or in transit is according to the crew and workers using the Gesa and Swath1 a very solid proof of the concept. Further sizes and arrangements are under development.
